The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. best cheap robot vacuum gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
